Herb mental F4: Mental problems such as hysteria with stomach pain, abnormal sensation in the pharynx, or distended sensation in the throat.
1. Hysteria: 206 hysteria patients were divided into a treatment group (n=104) using F4 and a comparison group (n=102) using regular medicine. Both groups also had psychological therapy. The cure rate was 99.03 percent vs. 85.29 percent, and the long-term effective rate was 90.38 percent vs. 79.41 percent. The treatment group was better than the comparison group.
2. Abnormal sensation in the throat or pharynx: 136 patients in two studies took F4 or its modification for three weeks and 55 were cured (40.44 percent), 15 significantly improved (11.02 percent), 24 improved (17.64 percent) and 42 did not improve (30.88 percent). 70 patients were divided into a treatment group (n=34) taking F4 and a comparison group (n=36) taking regular medicine. Cured: 8 vs. 2 (23.52 percent vs. 5.55 percent), significantly improved: 20 vs. 8 (58.82 percent vs. 22.22 percent), improved: 4 vs. 16 (11.76 percent vs. 44.44 percent), no improvement: 2 vs. 10 (5.88 percent vs. 27.77 percent). The average treatment days were: 8.88 days vs. 12.03 days. There were significant differences between the two groups, P<0,01.
